Photo Description: My humble abode while visiting Uncle Tan's Jungle Camp. The camped is indeed a very special place. We went on numerous treks and boat trips every day (morning, noon and late at night). The number of exotic birds, insects and wildlife I saw, including Proboscis Monkeys and Rhinoceros Hornbills, was stunning. The Kinabatangan River is among the riches rivers in Borneo and the world for viewing wildlife in its habitat. I can't express in words the incredible multitude of jungle noises, sounds and songs which one went to sleep to every night. It was almost deafening. One could also sometimes hear, late at night - off in the distance, a herd of wild Asiatic elephants snapping Palm trees in their wake.
